I've always wondered what it feels like to fly or at least hover up in the air like Ironman. That's why when I first heard about Flyboarding, I told myself I gotta try it out. Nope... I. MUST. TRY IT OUT.

Good thing Networx Jetsports in Subic (3-hour drive from Manila) offers Flyboard rentals.
So I booked a Flyboard session, booked a hotel room, packed my bags and I'm off to Subic!

With the emergence of all these bluetooth speakers in market today, it took me months to decide which one is perfect for me and my needs.
Factors to be considered:
1. Being a basshead, I need a speaker that is at par with my car audio setup (Pioneer Head Unit + Ground Zero 30SPL Subwoofer + Sound Magus amps + Kicker Coax + Kicker separates), or at least near what my Sennheiser Momentum headphones are giving me.
2. Portability. I need something that I can carry and move around the house. From the living room, to the dining room, down to the garage where we usually chill and have some drinks.
3. Should be within the price range of PHP 10,000 - 25,000 (US $200-550). Over 25k is just too much for a portable speaker system. I'll go for a decent Hi-Fi system at 35k and above.
With those 3 factors considered, in the end I was torn between 2 awesome bluetooth speakers:
Sony GTK-X1BT vs. Marshall Stanmore
Both of them have very good reviews. Both are beautifully designed in their own respects. Sony GTK-X1BT has this geometric, very modern design with LED lights and DJ Effects. While the Marshall Stanmore has this classic vintage design with old school knobs and switch.

The Stanmore won me over the aesthetic category, I even imagined it would look perfect on my home office desk. But then again, I am looking for a bluetooth speaker that could satisfy the audiophile-dash-basshead in me so as much as I'm in love with the Stanmore's classic beauty, I know it will all comes down with the audition.
I first auditioned the Sony GTK-X1BT at a Sony Centre, I played a high quality demo audio from my Xperia Z3 and was immediately blown away. It is surprisingly GREAT considering a price tag of just PHP 12,995 (approx. US $280), plus additional features such as Bass Bazuka, DJ Effects, and LED lights that pump up the atmosphere with club-like illumination... it's perfect!
The '91 classic returns... the Nike Air Huarache. This is, by far, one of the most comfortable kicks I have ever owned and worn. I love the fit, extremely comfy.
Good thing I managed to cop a pair of this "triple black" beauty before it was sold out
(or at least my size was) just a couple of days of its official release.

For me, longboarding is a form of relaxation and release. It's also my workout and fun activity packed in to one! It keeps me fit without going to the gym, I sweat a lot for hours and hours while actually having a good time.

If you're interested in longboarding, or any form of skating, get started on it. Trust me, you won't regret it!

This is what I got myself for my birthday, my second customized longboard.
(I just don't get it why Sector 9 decided to discontinue their best-selling version of the board??)
Luckily, after days of searching, I found Boards on Nord (www.nordboards.com) shop that still has red Paradiso's in stock. Good thing all other specific parts that I need for my board are available too, and most importantly they ship overseas. So, I didn't waste any time, ordered and customized my board. And just in time for my birthday, it's already at my doorstep!
Sector 9 Paradiso (Red) Longboard
Specs:
Sector 9 Paradiso 40.5" deck
Venom Super Carve bushings (81a)
Paris V2 trucks (50 degrees - 180mm) with shock pads
Sector 9 Skiddles longboard wheels (70mm - 78a multi color)
Bones Reds bearings
I've been drooling over this board for weeks at the Daddies Boardshop site (www.daddiesboardshop.com), read up all the reviews I could find all over the net about this board and then one day when I finally decided that this is the perfect board that I'd give myself for my upcoming birthday, they were already SOLD OUT!
I was shocked. I didn't think that it would be sold out that fast. I mean it has just been released a few months ago.
This specific version, the best-selling red Paradiso, was the first one to be sold out at Daddies Boardshop then quickly followed by it's brother, the yellow Paradiso. So, I messaged Daddies Boardshop on Facebook and ask them when will they have new stocks of the Red Paradiso. They quickly replied and informed me that Sector 9 will only be reproducing yellow Paradiso's and that the red version has been discontinued. Which means that it will be a lot harder for me to find other shops that sell red Paradiso's because it is now a rare deck.

Surfing, no matter what level you're in, is like a drug. You always long for that feeling, that rush, and you keep coming back for more.
So, just as how the surfers back in the 1950's got the idea to surf the streets when the waves were flat, it's pretty much the same how it dawned on me to get into longboarding primarily to have more shred time on land and improve my surfing through muscle memory. This method is also used by Surf Coaches around the world. [Source: SurfScience.com]
First off, choosing a board
After doing some research, reading forums and customer reviews from renowned board shops, I finally found the perfect beginner board for my needs. And behold, the Pintail 40 from Original Skateboards.

These two videos sealed the deal and made me fall in love with the Pintail 40:
My Setup
- Pintail 40 deck with Original laser cut grip
- Original S8 200mm trucks
- Abec 11 Flashbacks 70mm 81a
- Bones Super Reds Bearings
I picked Pintail 40 over the other sizes (37", 42", and 46") because it's just the right size for my height (5'5") and weight (120lbs).

It has very surfy feel due to Original's patented S8 spring-loaded trucks. They have 3 tension springs to choose from, Black is the softest, Red is medium which they say is perfect if you're transitioning from regular longboard trucks to spring-loaded trucks, and White is the hardest which is recommended for heavier riders.

Abec 11 Flashbacks 81a are well known for their buttery smooth slide, but still soft enough at 81a duro and have that grip when you need them.

Lastly, for my bearings I chose the ever reliable Bones bearings.
I'm really happy with this new found sport, it's a good way to cross-train and improve my surfing while on land but more importantly I'm loving the sport itself. I'm actually looking on building a new board set up for Freeride/Freestyle real soon. Stoked!
